04.00.01.13 - released or not?

The arago git appears to have a horribly broken NAND driver (or something big changed? ECC algorithm?), which is why I was hoping for a tested PSP release.

ECC layout is changed in upcoming release to make it common between u-boot and kernel.

Can you give more details of issue that you are facing in NAND driver? A log and steps you followed would be good.

I run the PSP 4.0.0.12 kernel and jffs2 rootfs from NAND on a DM816x EVM board.  All is good.  But when I tried to use the latest Arago kernel I see hundreds of errors telling me the jffs2 is corrupted. 

If the ECC layout has changed, I guess it means I need to rewrite the whole jffs2 rootfs image in flash?  Not something that was very obvious from just reading the WIki ... and yes, I did see the big read 'Read This First' stuff - I'd not appreciated it would mean the whole root fs would need to be rewritten though.   It means that when we transition our code to the new release, it won't be easy to quickly swap back to the previous release.  I hope this kind of breaking change won't happen too often when our product is released  :)

Most of the cases, you will be able to quickly swap back to previous release. But if there are any specific changes done to make it easy for users, (same ECC layout across u-boot and kernel will help in flashing new images from either kernel or u-boot), we capture them specifically in "Read Me First" section so that appropriate care can be taken.

we make sure that we have clear documentation for any bug fixes/changes that affect previous release and also try to minimize them.

Please try reflashing filesystem and let us know if you see issues.

I have built a new u-boot, new kernel and new jffs2 rootfs image with this released PSP.

I have flashed all these things to NAND on my DM816xEVM board.

I still see many hundreds of errors like this:

JFFS2 notice: (33) check_node_data: wrong data CRC in data node at 0x0642054c: read 0x61f19eae, calculated 0xf85672b5.

This did not happen with any previous release.

I guess it's to do with the ECC change, as noted, but I still cannot resolve this problem.

I'll keep trying...

Actually - we just realised the addresses on these errors.  The WHOLE flash should be fully erased when moving to the new PSP, then all is well.

Apologies for any confusion caused.  From a standing start, PSP 4.0.1.13 is good - it's just the upgrade from 4.0.0.12 that was a little confusing.

Actually, I do still see a strange problem with this new release.

The very first time I write to JFFS2 after a full erase of flash and write of new FS, I get the following error:

Write verify error (ECC OK or unused)

Followed by a huge dump of data to the console describing the data written and read back.   The write actually seems to have succeeded successfully and the two dumps appear identical however.

I've been using JFFS2 for years and never seen this kind of strange behaviour.  It never happened with the previous PSP releases.
