AM62A3: Does it have side effect to remove I/O expander design from AM62A_LP EVM reference design?

Part Number: AM62A3
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA6424, TPS22918

Tool/software:

Hello, TI Expert

Follow title description, customer design AM62A SOM and try to remove un-necessary parts & nets for AM62A_LP EVM design. We reference schematic as below.

sprr491a\Proc135\PROC135A\PROC135A\1_SCHEMATIC\PDF\PROC135A_With_Design_Updates..Notes_V1.0.pdf

We already check & follow Application note :

1) Hardware Design Considerations for Custom Board Using AM62A7 / AM62A3 Family of Processors (Rev. A)

2) AM625 / AM623 / AM625SIP / AM620-Q1 / AM62A7 / AM62A3-Q1 / AM62P / AM62P-Q1 Schematic Design Checklist (Rev. E)

We want to remove I/O expander 1&2 (TCA6424) design, and remain necessary gpio control signal (net) from I/O expander to AM62A direct GPIO control.

Here are some summarize from my side and need your double check. (Green Mark)

I think we will remain these signal for minimal requirements, and let AM62A direct GPIO control.

Expander * 2 :

1) MMC1_SD_EN : If customer direct power SD slot vdd (3.3V) after AM62A reset complete, basically we can also remove this I/O control for TPS22918 load switch, Do we have any power on sequence concern? (Y/N)

2) VPP_EN : Reserve for e-fuse programming. (Y/N)

3) GPIO_EMMC_RSTn : Test only, basically we can also remove this control. (Y/N)

Another GPIO:

1) PMIC_INT_B : Reserve, so far no use. (Y/N)

2) PMIC_WDOG_TRIGG : Reserve, so far no use. (Y/N)

3) PMIC_LPM_EN0 : Reserve for low power mode control. (Y/N)

If we remove these control signal in hardware, and use default SDK (Linux) without any code modification, I think it should be also boot success,  Am I correct? (Y/N)

Many Thanks

Gibbs

Depending on the use case, you may have to configure the SOC IOs for these functions.
