Kernel Panics with CONFIG_PM option enabled

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3517

Hi there,

I'm using LogicPD am3517 SOM board with TI PSP 03.00.00.05 with kernel 2.6.32.

I'm booting kernel and rootfs from mmc1.

Here is the console printed messages:

Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt

It seems that something related to mmc is causing this exception.

  • There is latest patch release from TI on the same kernel version, PSP03.00.01.06. You may want to try that here. You can access sources directly from - http://arago-project.org/git/projects/?p=linux-omap3.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/OMAPPSP_03.00.01.06

Coming to the crash you are seeing, have you modified anything with the code or config option? I believe CONFIG_PM is by default enabled in configuration, so I wouldn't expect it to be broken so badly. Based on crash I can suspect that, clock is getting disabled somehow. Some pointers -

    - What if you use other media for rootfs and try to access MMC from Linux prompt? Is it accessible and working?

    - As your subject line says, "Crash with CONFIG_PM", is it working without this option enabled?

    - Have you tried with another MMC card? This is just a option to try, I agree that is doesn't make any sense.

    Thanks,

    Vaibhav
