For 6678 power supply, which one is better?

Hi, I am a new beginner in PCB design. Now  I want to design a board, which has a C6678 and an FPGA.   I had intended to use the 5V power supply, but someone said that 12V power supply can give c6678 a better performance? I am confused with this problem, which one is better? Could someone give me suggestions and the reason?

  • The C6678 requires1V AVS, 1V fixed, 1.5V and 1.8V power rails.  These voltages are generated from a higher voltage rail using individual power supply components.  Most of these components have a wide range of possible input voltages and, for many of them, both +5V and +12V are valid.  The C6678 will not operate any differently if either 12V or 5V is used as a source for the power supplies.  It will draw the same amount of current from these supplies on each of the rails regardless.  The choice of input voltage to the power supplies may effect the efficiency of those supplies which could change the total power consumed by the system.  You should look at the efficiency of your power supplies to see if the choice of input voltage will make any difference.
