SK-AM62: Ethernet Cascaded Chain with communication with each board from a PC and externally

Part Number: SK-AM62

Tool/software:

Hi AM62x Champ !

A customer wants to build a system using the SK-AM62x EVK or an AM62x custom board that they will build, and connect them in a Board to Board Cascaded chain as shown below, so that they can communicate with all target boards from a PC or via other external devices.
They asked if it would be possible to connect them in a board to board cascaded chain without using POE.
Please let me know if this is possible and give me your technical opinion.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Jack

  • Incidentally, they want to develop a system where devices can be connected in a cascade chain via the AM62x's 2-port CPSW Ethernet Switching Engine to communicate to forward packets, etc. and each device can be controlled from a PC or a remote device on the external network.
Please let me know if their use case is possible.

  • Hi,

From  the daisy chain network topology as shown in the diagram the answer is yes, the AM62 can be connected in this topology.  It will up to the customer to decide what level of access they want to have locally or remotely. This is above the driver support that TI provides.

    Best Regards,
