AM625SIP: IP Camera Encoder Chip

Hi Aneesh,

AM62x has been validated with OV5640 and OV9281 cameras.

Linux->Develop Linux on TI EVM -> Use Camera.

Also note, that AM62x doesn't have a hardware accelerator like AM62P(Which does H.264 Encode/Decode and H.265 Video Encode/Decode in hardware).So you would have to rely on software based codecs(Gstreamer software codec plugins, libav ffmpeg codecs). 

Aneesh, could you elaborate on the use-case that requires you to have IP Camcoders? Have you looked at AM62P Sitara SoC as well?

AM62P could be suitable for your application, if it requires video encode/decode operations, Also it has GPU thats better in performance compared to AM62x.

Hi Aneesh,

Since IMX335 is a camera without in-built ISP, as the RAW8/RAW10 format is supported, I would suggest considering AM62A and not AM62P(This doesn't have VPAC- Vision Processing Accelerator) that AM62A has which has an ISP to convert bayer/RAW format to YUV. 

If you are considering AM62P, then suggest using camera's with in-built ISP.

Are you using the IMX335 USB 5MP camera? We have verified the USB camera working fine on AM62P/AM62A.

You could use the function tracer (https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/v5.0/trace/ftrace.html) to see how the sensor driver and the CSI Rx driver are running. To check data transmission, you'll need to use a scope to inspect the signals on the CSI lanes.

For Windows based IDE, you could try Visual Studio Code which allows you to remotely connect to a Linux host. You can use it for editing and compiling, but not debugging.
