PROCESSOR-SDK-AM64X: BIST, PBIST, LBIST

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM64X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDS64EVM

Tool/software:

Hi:

I am running dev board    TMDS64EVM

according to this document:

software-dl.ti.com/.../SDL_PBIST_PAGE.html

Question,1. BIST is more focus on the armv7 core? r where I can find the info for BIST info? can you point it out?

2. since BIST is desctructive test,  we should test PBIST LBIST first, then test BIST, right?

3. is BIST or PBIST, LBIST test performed somewhere in RBL?  rom bootloader. or we have to manually do it.

Thanks.

  • Hello,

There seems to be some confusion here. The BIST(Built in self test) are used to the memory and logic parts of the SoC. The PBIST takes care of the memory regions and the LBIST tests the logic circuitry. There is no other separate BIST test that needs to be executed.

    2. since BIST is desctructive test,  we should test PBIST LBIST first, then test BIST, right?

Both PBIST and LBIST are destructive tests. Hence, they have to be run during the startup phase.

    3. is BIST or PBIST, LBIST test performed somewhere in RBL?  rom bootloader. or we have to manually do it.

You will have to trigger the PBIST and LBIST tests from the SBL or your application. They are not performed by default.
