Rev B SOM replacing Rev A SOM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138

Hi E2E'rs

When a OMAPL138 SOM is replaced with a newer revision SOM (rev B) on the eXperimenter board we get an error specifying the boot image is in the wrong format. What needs to be built to resolve this

The original SOM was silicon revision 2.0 (ROM ID d800k 006)

The new SOM was silicon revision 2.1 (ROM ID d800k 008)

Can you elaborate a bit further on how you are getting this error? Using GEL file, SDK? What is your boot image , what is your boot source? Are these SOMs from LogicPD? How did you confirm that it has silicon revision PG2.1?

  • Hi Mukul

    We have resolved.

In fact we were looking at debug terminal from UART which gave the error and were able to read the ROM of the older and newer devices with emulator.

Showed the supplied Logic PD SOM has ID (D800K 006 = rev 2.0). The replacement we sourced from DigiKey and showed ID D800K 008 (rev 2.1).

We needed to rebuild the Linux kernal in the end.
