DM8148 and DM8127 comparison

In considering the DM8148 for a 1080P 60FPS application, we noticed an Appro camera kit that utilizes the DM8127, which is not listed on TI's website.

Another forum thread indicates that the "broad market derivative device is documented on the TI product folder (DM8148)." See the thread here: http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/davinci_digital_media_processors/f/100/p/101737/360664.aspx#360664

If this is the case, are they the same? How do we determine if the Appro kit will be useful, since it contains a processor that appears to unavailalbe to the general public.

Please explain so we can proceed confidently.

  • Bryan,

The DM8127 is focused on IPNC vertical market.  There are special requirements from the Product team to engage customers for this part.  The DM8148 is a superset of the DM8127, so it could be used in an IPNC design.  We can talk off-line more on details if you need more feedback.

    Regards.

  • I have the same doubt. But you said: "The DM8148 is a superset of the DM8127, so it could be used in an IPNC design.". My question is about IPIPEIF and IPIPE modules. Are this modules present in the DM8148?  I have the preview datasheet of DM8127 and it have both modules, but in the DM8148 there is no mention to this modules. In the block diagram of the DM8148 this modules are not present too.

Can you confirm that DM8148 does not have the IPIPEIF and IPIPE?  What functions are in the IPIPE of the DM8127?

    Thank you.

  • Where can I find the datasheet of DM8127?
