Victor,
Are you getting error when you are trying to download/install updates when using CCS Theia? And are you using CCS Theia 1.5.1.00003?
Also, can you run CCS Theia in Administrator mode? I've seen a similar error before, and was able to resolve it by running CCS Theia in Administrator mode. Do note that Administrator mode should not be needed normally for updates to work.
Thanks,
Ricky
Ricky,
Thanks for taking my question. Details line in Help, About says it is Version: 1.4.1.1. I click Help, Check for updates, they get found, I agree to install
Things get downloaded, then I get prompted to close CCS,
I do agree, and then the error happen
Victor,
The EACCES error seems to indicate that there is permission/access issue with running the installer to perform the update.
Do you maybe have any security or anti-virus software that might be preventing access to the update process?
Also, are you able to start CCS Theia with Administrator access? (ie; Right click on ccstudio.exe and 'Run as administrator'._
Thanks,
Ricky
Hello!
That is pretty ordinary Win11 machine, nothing special is there besides Microsoft Defender. I've tried with elevated privileges first and indeed it worked. So I can't tell for sure that disabling Defender could help too. You know, it is somewhat counterintuitive to run IDE as administrator in order to get it self-updated. I remember earlier times CCS updater was asking for elevated privileges after being launched, not before. Either way, I was able to perform update. One minor issue though is that in the start menu the program is still found as 1.4.1, though Help, About does show correct version 1.5.1.3.
Thanks
Victor,
Yes, the admin privileges shouldn't be needed for applying updates, but when users are running into the EACCES issue during the update process, this is a known workaround for now. We will need to investigate how common this issue is, and what the cause is to see we can implement a better solution for when users run into this.
As for the menu shortcut string, I'll file a bug for this to investigate further.
Thanks,
Ricky
