SK-AM62: Alternative of the QNX

Part Number: SK-AM62

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am working with the AM62x SKEVM board. It is known that QNX has safety features. Is it possible these safety features can be applied without QNX?

For instance, can we create a Linux OS with an ASIL-B safety feature?

Thanks

  • Hi

Can you please elaborate what are you looking for from a Linux safety context? FWIK, getting Linux safety certified via the Functional Safety ISO 26262 ASIL B standard is not possible. There may be commercial versions which may be slight exceptions to this.

Linux can however be used in an integrated heterogeneous system where Linux itself doesn't handle safety critical functions and these are realized by running safety certifiable (certified) software on R5Fs and Linux interacts with these "safety" cores. There are HW / SW mechanisms in place to make sure that crashes and faults on Linux doesn't impact the safety system.

    Regards

    Karan
