TMDX654IDKEVM: TMDX654IDKEVM

Part Number: TMDX654IDKEVM

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am trying to test DCP using Profinet Automated RT Tester. For the test setup I am using the TMDX654IDKEVM EVK board and another TI Device (Device under test). I am getting the following error.

" ERROR: EtsConnectionState is Undefined. Check configuration / connection "

Also, how can I get the IP address of the EVK port that I've connected to my laptop via Ethernet Port ?

Is there any Default IP address set in the board.

Looking forward for quick response.

Thanks,

Jagadeesh

  • Hi Jagadeesh,

The steps to setup and start the ETS board is mentioned in the Product Documentation of ART within the test bundle. Please refer to these steps to confirm if all the configuration on the PC have been done. Please let us know if the issue still exists after following the steps mentioned in the document.

Is there any Default IP address set in the board.

The ETS tool has a default IP configuration of 192.168.5.1.

    Best Regards,
    Laxman

  • Thanks Laxman for your reply.

I referred the same document that you have shared , but still i am not able to communicate. I am getting the following error

16:03:59 - ERROR: EtsConnectionState is Undefined. Check configuration / connection.
16:04:06 - ERROR: EtsConnectionState is Undefined. Check configuration / connection.
16:42:37 - ERROR: EtsConnectionState is Undefined. Check configuration / connection.

The test setup I am using is - RT tester connected to EVK board via ethernet cable and EVK is in turn connected to another device - Hilsher Netx90 (DUT). For this setup how to configure the RT Tester project in PC.

    Thanks,

    Jagadeesh SN

  • Hello Jagadeesh,

Please ensure if the following configurations are done:

    1) Check if you have internet connection on the PC connected to ETS tool, as we have seen issues when this is missing.

    2) Check the IP address of PC interface connected to ETS, should be set to 192.169.5.2

    3) Try to ping the ETS device and check if the response is received. If no, then there is some issue regarding flashing the image or IP configuration in the PC.

    4) Ensure that the you are using the latest revision of AM65x as mentioned in the documentation

If these suggestions do not fix the issue, please post this question in the PROFINET forum as they can provide any other suggestions to resolve this issue.

    Best Regards,
    Laxman

  • Hi Laxman ,

I followed all the steps, still I'm not getting the reply for pinging. I tried for all the ports present in EVK.

This is the cmd prompt logs that I tried to ping.

Pinging 192.168.5.1 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.5.2: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.5.2: Destination host unreachable.

  • Hi Jagadeesh,

This issue seems to be related to some ETS configuration which is missing. Please contact the PNO ART support forums, they would be able to better provide assistance in resolving this issue.

    Laxman

  • Hi Laxman,

Do we need to enable ping access on EVK? How can we check IP address for all the ports on EVK?

  • Hi Jagadeesh,

Ping access is enabled by default once the binary is flashed on the EVK. The loaded binary also sets the IP address of EVK to 192.168.5.1 after the device boot. The IP address is normally configured by the application. You can connect the UART terminal of EVK to your PC and check the UART console logs for any information on the IP address of the each interface.

Please ensure you are using the Control Interface port to connect to the PC.

    Laxman

  • Thank you Laxman for the support , we'll try as you suggested.

  • Hi Jagadeesh,

is the IDK board working with generic TI image from some SDKs?

For that you can use for example TI-RTOS or some Linux SDK. Then you can do some checks. Serial consile is accesible via UART.

  • Hi Lukas ,

I'm using the image provided in this path.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Automated RT-Tester\EtsFirmware

  • Hi Jagadeesh,

I got it, for development testing or certification is the ETS Firmware required.

    Back to my original question.

is the IDK board working with generic TI image from some SDKs?

For understanding my intention is verify whether the IDK board itself is working properly. There are other possible issues with SD card, DIP switch settings etc. For that I suggest use generic image provided in one of TI SDKs.

  • Hi Lukas,

I flashed this image "tisdk-default-image-am65xx-evm.wic.xz" but still I didn't get any logs when I powered the board on.

  • Hi Jagadeesh,

then I suppose next checks - ref. link

    1. Use serial console settings 11500 8N1
    2. Check if you have a strong enough power source
    3. Configure DIP switches for SD card boot
    4. Try different SD card

More helpful ideas and details how to continue probably will have TI specialist.

    Regards,
    Lukas Libal

  • Try different SD card

This would be my first check. The SD cards are of inconsistent quality, I personally have had issues here occasionally but with new cards from for example Sandisk I have never had issues. Try with the TI default image to see the IDK boots. Once that is confirmed move to the Profinet provided image.
