Just double checking that Narrow Mode, the option to use only the lower half of the SDRAM EMIFB bus is available
on a TMS320C6747 in a BGA package.
In the Datasheet, SPRS377D–SEPTEMBER 2008–REVISED AUGUST 2010 on page 93, it only lists supported EMIFB SDRAM supported configurations
that are 32 bits wide. (In the smaller PTP package, the upper half of the EMIFB data bus is not even available.)
However, in the tech reference manual SPRUH91September 2011, in the SDCFG register it defines the Narrow mode bit for the EMIFB interface:
NM NM (Narrow mode). SDRAM data bus width. A write to this field will cause the EMIFB to
start the SDRAM initialization sequence.
0 32-bit SDR SDRAM
1 16-bit SDR SDRAM
And later on page 708 it says:
Narrow Mode. This bit defines the width of the data bus between the EMIFA and the attached SDRAM
device. When set to 1, the data bus is set to 16-bits. When set to 0, the data bus is set to 32-bits. This
bit must always be set to 1.
Stating that *only* 16 bit mode is available (contradicting the data sheet statements).
So does the 6747 in a BGA support narrow mode on EMIFB, or not?
