AM62P: How to update application of Linux from external PC?

Here is what we want to achieve when evaluate on TI EVM.

We have an application running on Linux A53 core and we want to update it each time we power on the EVM.

Using EMMC boot media of EVM, after flash boot image and rootfs to EMMC one time, we can boot Linux from EMMC, No SD card is used in the future.

Re-compile the application on external PC, and flash the application to EVM.

After update the application on Linux, power off and power on.

Now the EVM can boot from EMMC and application is updated.

Please help to guide us how to implement this. Thanks.

Hello,

I am not sure what specifically you are looking for. You may just receive your application using the different available interface like Ethernet & flash it to the rootfs.

Hi Prashant

If we use EMMC to boot the EVM, we can use Ethernet or DFU to flash the application to rootfs? Do you have any guide in SDK to refer to ?

Hi Zekun,

The `wget` or `scp` command from Linux Kernel can be used to transfer data over Ethernet. Once the application is received, it can be moved to the desired location in the rootfs.

These commands are general Linux utilities & so you may find many detailed how-to guides for them on the internet.

I have tried on EVM but our SDK do not support Wget or scp by default.

The `wget` command is available in the default filesystem. The `scp` is meant to be run from the host PC when the SSH server is running on the EVM.
