Tool/software:
Hi
we are looking at a flash GD9Ax2GxF3A, it’s an 8-bit flash but differs from QSPI on pin definitions and numbers.
Could you please help evaluate the compatibility on AM623 soc ?

Hello Zekun,
Can you ask the customer to check with the flash part vendor if the flash memory is complaint with
JEDEC xSPI standards JESD251 and JESD216D.
If that is the case, then it would be nice to go ahead with the flash, as the flash configuration values can be quickly found out by our OSPI Flash Diagnostics Tool(this tool works for NOR flash parts only as of now).
Looking forward to your response.

Hi Vaibhav
Customer are now looking for a NAND flash. They abandon the Nor flash and will boot from EMMC. Will that case differ from Nor flash?

Hello Zekun,
It is okay that the customer is going forward with nand flash instead of nor flash. Some of the supported flash parts can be found under:
C:\ti\mcu_plus_sdk_am62ax_10_00_00_14\source\board\.meta\flash\serialFlash
Apart from this some other flash parts we have supported in the past are:

Thanks Vaidhav.
Just one question, for nand flash selection, as long as JEDEC xSPI standards JESD251 and JESD216D is compatible, the flash can be used pairing with SOC, right?
I checked in the datasheet that the OSPI NAND is compliant with this :
But I am not sure it is the case you mentioned.

Hello Zekun,
Can you mention the OSPI NAND Flash part which you have referred to in datasheet?
JEDEC xSPI standards JESD251 and JESD216D is compatible
So these standards if compliant by the flash, then the xSPI mode is ALSO possible(along with OSPI/QSPI and so on) else one can go ahead with the normal OSPI operation and the flash will still be compatible.
