DSK6713 using SYS/BIOS

I am trying to create a new SYS/BIOS CCSv5.1 project for a Spectrum Digital DSK6713 board... just a simple Hello World will do.

No matter what configuration options or project settings I try, I always get the following error: Target not supported : ti.targets.C7

Is there a sample SYS/BIOS project for CCSv5.x (or tutorial or project settings) 'specifically' for the DSK6713 so that I can compile/link/run without errors?

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Peter,

what version of CCS do you have (what version of 5.1 -RC1)?

Did you modify the target? The target should be (and I have it in my RC1 installation) ti.targets.C67 ... under platform you should be able to then selet teh 6713. Please double check and let us know.

I have the latest CCS v5.1 RC1

The following is set:

Target: ti.targets.C67

Platform: ti.platforms.dsk6713

What about on the General 'Main' tab under 'Device'?

I have

Family: C6000

Variant: ? and 'Generic C67x+Device

I have tried other device variants, but then I have problems setting the Target/Platform in the RTSC tab.

Ok, I will leave this to the BIOS team then. I have been able to reproduce a "target not supported error".

Which version of SYS/BIOS 6 are you using? There is no support for the C67 COFF target in recent releases.

Whatever version was installed with CCSv5.1 RC1

Looks like: bios_6_32_04_49

If this does not support the DSK6713... is there a version that does?

Will support for this device be available (I wonder why this was dropped in the recent releases)?

SYS/BIOS 6.x doesn't support the 6713 and there are no plans to do this. You can see full list of devices we support in the "supported devices" area of the release notes.

6713 is supported in DSP/BIOS 5.41 which should also be included in your CCS5.1 RC1.

OK... however, when I go to create a new DSP/BIOS project... the DSK6731 (or any variation of 671x) does not appear in the list of 'Project Templates' 'DSP/BIOS v5x.xx Examples'

Which DSP/BIOS template should I use for the 6713 device when creating a new project?

Peter,
try the following. Select the dsk6416 hello example, and then edit the generated TCF script in a text editor. Just replace the line

utils.loadPlatform('ti.platforms.dsk6416');

with

utils.loadPlatform('ti.platforms.dsk6713');

Save the file and build the project. After that, you should be able to open the TCF script in the GUI Configuration Tool and make any further changes there.

Yes.. that method worked... I was able to compile/link and debug.

I would have expected to see the 'hello world' text appear in the 'Console' window, but I don't see any ouput from the LOG_printf() call (?)

Try having a look in the RTA log windows:

Tools -> RTA -> printf logs

-> raw logs

Do you see the message in there?
