AM620-Q1: McASP interface

Part Number: AM620-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Tool/software:

Hello TI Team,

We are studying a solution merging a multimedia MEDIADOCK and a DMS solution.

In one of these scenarios, we would like to reuse our actual platform based on an AM6202 SoC. (Using MCSAP interfaces)

1- Please could you make us a review about our MCSAP mapping to our audio peripherals. (Attached file) ?

MEDIADOCK_DMS_A_HW00.pdf

2- could you please provide more details about signal integrity rules and targeted performance to follow in case if the same McASP can be connected to multiple device ?

3-Is it possible to use GPMC NAND first 8 datas (AD0 to AD7 pins) and use other GPMC pins (AD8 to AD15 pins) for MCASP audio ?

Obviously the 2 interfaces (GPMC and MCASP) shall be able to operate in parallel and independently without any interference or limitation

Many thanks

Karim

    Hello Kraim,

    Thank you for the query.

Let me review the inputs and come back.

  • Hello Karim,

Please refer below inputs i received from the expert.

    1. The proposed setup looks ok. Since not details on the communication format have been provide, just some comments on the configuration.

MCASP0 * Bluetooth and Tuner must be running with the same format (TDM/I2S/etc)  and word size setup  and are synchronized with the bit clock and frame Sync

MCASP2 * Codec and amplifier must be running with the same format (TDM/I2S/etc)  and word size setup and are synchronized with the bit clock and frame Sync

    1. Two devices can be connected to McASP. It is recommended to follow good layout practices when routing the bit clock. Use the IBIS model to check signal integrity.
    2. The required configuration is valid. Please use the SysConfig tool to ensure correct peripheral/IOSet configuration.

    Regards,
