Develop projects for Linux SoCs | Urgent!

What OS do I need on PC where I'm going to develop a project for DaVinci Linux SoC?

Currently I have Windows XP. QuickStartGuide shipped with the Evaluation Board (TMS320DM36x) says "To use DVSDK (Linux Digital Video Software Development Kit) you need a Linux development host - Ubuntu".

Is Code Composer Studio suitable for both Windows and Ubuntu? If no, what are alternatives there?

CCS(Code Composer Studio) is designed for only windows. You might not need CCS for developing software for Davinci Linux SOC. I developed drivers and applications on Ubuntu.

Have you designed exactly for DaVinci? (I have TMS320DM36x)

What software did you use on Ubuntu? Currently we are going to install Linux VirtualBox + DVSDK + CodeSorcery, is it enough, or there is something else vital, in ur opinion?

Alyona,

Yes. I did develop linux software[drivers+kernel+demo apps] for dm365 using Ubuntu environment.

I believe, with Virtual box+DVSDK+CodeSourcery, you should be able to start. Also, SDK/Wiki will have all the steps described.
