TDA4AL-Q1: Is YUV Format Conversion Hardware-Accelerated, and Can It Run Independently on R5F for Fast Video Output?

Part Number: TDA4AL-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

SDK:
ti-processor-sdk-rtos-j721s2-evm-08_06_01_03.tar.gz

I am working on a video processing project where YUV format conversion is a critical step, and the goal is to support fast video output. I am evaluating whether this task can be efficiently handled by the R5F core within TI processors.

Specifically, I would like to understand:

  1. Hardware Acceleration: Is YUV format conversion on TI processors supported by hardware acceleration to enhance processing speed ?
  2. Independent Execution on R5F: Can YUV format conversion be performed independently on the R5F core to achieve fast output, without the need for additional support from other cores (such as DSP or A72)? If possible, are there any specific performance metrics or limitations to be aware of?
  3. Documentation and Libraries: Are there TI-provided libraries or documentation that focus on YUV format conversion specifically for R5F, especially with recommendations for optimizing fast video output?

Thank you!

Best regards,
