AM625: Change the bootanimation.zip for changing the android logo while booting in Android.

Hello Ti experts,

I'm not able to use the custom bootanimation.zip in Android, When I try to copy the custom bootanimation.zip file at /system/media location. But there's no such a directory named "media" under the "system" directory of Android, and when I'm trying to create the directory, then it says "Read-only filesystem : Permission denied". Now how to change the bootanimation.zip?

Hi Aditya,

As documented in here:
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/refs/heads/main/cmds/bootanimation/FORMAT.md#zipfile-paths

You must indeed copy bootanimation.zip to /system/media/.

However, this should be done at build time.
Here is an example of cuttlefish with a custom bootanimation.zip:
https://cs.android.com/android/platform/superproject/main/+/main:device/google/cuttlefish/vsoc_x86_64_only/auto_portrait/aosp_cf.mk;l=34?q=bootanimation.zip

So for AM62X, you would:
1. copy your custom bootanimation.zip to device/ti/am62x/
2. edit device/ti/am62x/device-common.mk and add:

PRODUCT_COPY_FILES += \
    device/ti/am62x/bootanimation.zip:system/media/bootanimation.zip

Then, rebuild and reflash following https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-android/esd/AM62X/10_00_00/docs/android/Overview_Building_the_SDK.html#build-instructions

If you do not wish to rebuild, you can try the following instead:

adb root && adb remount -R
# wait for board to reboot

adb root && adb remount

adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media
adb reboot
