About the Hyperlink ports of C6678

Hi All:

In the datasheet of C6678, Hyperlink ports of two C6678s should be DC-coupled.

But in the HW design guide, Hyperlink ports of two C6678s is AC-coupled(Figure 37).

Should it be AC or DC coupled? And what is more, when will the hardware design guide would be updated?

Thank you very much.

  • The Hyperlink interface was designed to be a very high speed serdes across very short distance for two adjacent ICs on the same board.  Presently the interface is only supported by a limited number of TI DSPs.  Since the all of the DSPs are on the same board and all are using the TI Hyperlink IO interface, DC coupling is possible. In addition DC coupling is necessary to operate the interface at it's highest speeds.  Hyperlink can be AC coupled but the addition of the capacitors limit the speed of the interface.  An updated list of routing requirements can be found at the following link.
