I have a question regarding the use of an HDMI grabber.

I have two EVM boards with identical OPN and ASSY numbers.

- OPN# : J722SXH01EVM

- ASSY : PROC170E3A(002)

When using the same application and HDMI grabber on both boards, one board displays correctly through the grabber, while the other only shows a "no signal" message.

Upon examining the hardware differences, I discovered that the non-functioning board lacks an HDMI ESD protection device, specifically the chipset located at 'U197' in the schematic.

Additionally, a capacitor at C661, which is associated with the audio codec, is also missing.

Do you think the presence or absence of this chipset could be the root cause of the result I’m facing?

Yongsig, let me get with our schematic h/w expert on this.

Was this no signal observed only on a single board and have you tried multiple boards?

Yes, its possible the missing components are causing the issue. Can you provide a good picture of the board and the missing component area(s)? Can you provide a history of these boards? Are they both new/unused?

Each component has a reference designator. Can you identify which components are missing - for example U10 or R13? Can you tell if they've been ripped off or were never there?

Each board is functionally tested prior to shipment, so I find it surprising such a gross failure can occur.

As I mentioned, there are only 'U197' and 'C661' that I have found so far.

Also they were never there.
