SK-TDA4VM: Question regarding on SBL boot

Hi,

I am using the SK-TDA4VM board with the ti-processor-sdk-rtos-j721e-evm-09_02_00_05 and ti-processor-sdk-linux-edgeai-j721e-evm-09_02_00_05.

I am booting the board using the SBL boot. My question is that after the Linux(last stage in the boot process) booted up, what is the status of the MCU R5F. What is running on these cores?

Hi,

If SBL is responsible for loading all the cores and linux, then after it loading the Linux, the SBL resets the MCU1_0 core on which it was running, and the firmware provided to MCU1_0 (i.e. DM) would start executing on the same.

You can refer the below for the same

5.2. J721E SBL — Platform Development Kit (PDK) - JACINTO User Guide

Additionally you can go through the SBL source code in the SDK as well. As it is a baremetal code, the sequence would be straight forward starting from the main() in sbl_main.c in PDK
