When we use the protocol stack for PROFINET, EtherNet/IP or EtherCAT that are provided via TI, I'd like to know if we can use DDR4 as the shared mamory area between PRU and R5F or not?

Hi,

Profinet, Ethercat and Ethernet/IP does not used DDR as shared memory as this will not guarantee deterministic timings for Read and write from PRU.

Could you explain the use case here? The Shared memory is fixed for each of the protocol and customer will not be able to change as this require rebuilding of firmware

That's exactly what I wanted to know.

We wanted to use the entire SRAM area as shared memory for user apps, so we wanted to change the memory for the protocol stack.
