TMDXEVM8168 HDMI capture

I have a customer evaluating the TMDXEVM8168 board and needs to capture a 1080p30 video stream on an HDMI input port and save it in H264 format. The final goal is to capture 2 streams through 2 HDMI ports.

After testing capture_encode example (supplied with EZSDK) they can capture required video through VIP1_PORTA and VIP2_PORTA (component inputs), but not through HDMI.

According to below post on forum there is no HDMI capturer/receiver with EVM8168 board.

Can anyone confirm if it is possible to capture 1080p30 or 1080p60 video from HDMI ports with EVM8168 ?

If so, is it supported by EZSDK (> 5.02 version)? Is there any source code available?

Hi,

It is possible to capture HDMI signals on DM8168 SoCs. There is not external HDMI receiver on the I/O expansion board that comes with TMDXEVM8168 board. Instead it has DVI capture. But we do have HDMI receiver chip on our other board which is again a daughter card to TMDXEVM8168. It is called VC daughter card and with that you can capture dual HDMI capture upto 1080P60. Please contact your local FAE for more infomaation about that board.

Hi Mike,

The customer ended up spinning their own board and this was never tested. Sorry.

Shaun,

1.) Why did they spin their own board? Was the video conferencing board not available?

2.) Did the customer board work with the TMDXEVM8168? Or are you saying that the custom spin for HDMI input was not tested?
