Hi Team,

The USB VBUS Design Guidelines of AM62Lx CPU suggesting the USB VBUS circuit for USB 3.1 specification. In our custom design, the VBUS voltage will be always 5V. So, we are planning to use the a voltage divider circuit without the use of zener diode. Kindly advice us that we can design without using diode or not.

When the USB interface is a host, VBUS connection is optional

When the USB interface is device, a switched supply is required to be connected to VBUS.

If the switched VBUS supply is sourced on board, the VBUS divider can be optimized. You could use a 10K and a 20K resistor. Zener provision can be removed.

Is an external VBUS is connected from the USB connector, the VBUS divider guidelines including Zener provision is recommended.

Please be aware the USB ID is required to be implemented using one of the SOCs IO.
