J784S4XEVM: J784S4 DMA 2D linux kernel module

Hi TI Experts,

I want to implement DMA linux device driver in J784s4, I already transfer 1D data success, now i want to

write 2D transfer.

1. Does J784s4 support 2D dma transfer in linux driver on A72 ?
2. I see the example DMA 2D transfer sample in J784S4 RTOS SDK, can I use this 2D transfer sample (udma_apputils) on A72 side ?

Hi Ninh Nguyen,

Linux does not support usage of DMA from the userspace and as of now, there is no plan to support it. Please use DMA from R5F ie from FreeRTOS.

I mean , I write a linux device driver and user space application by call this device driver to allocator memory for 2D buffer and do the DMA transfer.

1. Does J784s4 support scatter-gather DMA mode ?

2. Is there any way to transfer 2D DMA from A72 to C7x DSP ?

Hi Ninh,

Yes, it does support for packet dma

and yes, you can use IPC to transfer 2D DMA from A72 to C7x DSP.
