Can any one tell me, How to implement Profibus in Sitara ARM.

TI has PROFIBUS Slave solution on AM1810 (ARM9) with Linux support available on http://www.ti.com/tool/profibus

In this product, the PROFIBUS slave functionality is integrated with the AM1810 SoC. The user can install the Linux SDK and run sample PROFIBUS application on AM1810 EVM.

Details of the implementation are given in this white paper

Some more new products for PROFIBUS are in pipeline and will also be available soon.

Further more information is required,

any licensing is required for profibus slave development?

yes then what about the fees for that? how much fees I have to pay it to TI.

what about the firmware? all the support header files included while I purchase the license.

AM1810 PROFIBUS DP slave implementation is developed with TMG's stack as an example. However it can be ported to any other PROFIBUS stack if the user needs to and we provide a firmware API guide for that.

AM1810 SDK has TI components with production licence and TMG items (stack library and headers) under evaluation for one year. You don't have to pay any licensing fees to TI for the SDK. It is available online for download (http://www.ti.com/tool/linuxezsdk-am1810). You need an AM1810 EVM (http://www.ti.com/tool/tmdxevm1810) to try this SDK and you can order it from https://estore.ti.com/TMDXEVM1810-AM1810-Profibus-Evaluation-Module-P2232.aspx

For production you can get the stack sources directly from TMG by paying licensing fees to them.

Dear Amit,

I read all these, In document written that Profibus slave license is free for development but if I want to distribute it to market at that time I have to pay license fees to TMG.

otherwise it is completely free in development cycle for lifetime. is it?

Hi Milap,

In this SDK you get PROFIBUS slave stack library and headers from TMG free for evaluation only for max one year. To obtain the stack sources you have to pay license fees to TMG. However, the TI sources are available without any license fees for development and production for lifetime.

The Sitara SYSBIOS Industrial SDK contains a Profibus slave example http://www.ti.com/tool/sysbiossdk-ind-sitara

Hi David,

Thanks for your quick reply. I checked in for master side, PROFITRACE is used. Can STEP7 be used for the same purpose after connecting the ICE v2 board with DCS (Distributed Control System)?

We have not tested this but we believe that there should not be any issues on the PROFIBUS slave application side.

Is their any other configuration required in DCS or step7, apart from adding GSD file for communication between the two ?
