What's the format of the VID bits in the SmartReflex part of C6678?

Hi, everyone.

  I am now learning how to configure the UCD9222 to supply power for C6678 DSP.  From the ucd9222 datasheet, i understand that the VID format can be configured in 4 bits or 6 bits. My quesion is :

  how the DSP knows the configured VID format of the ucd9222 and sends the correct format of  VID values through the VCNTL pins?
