Hi team,

I have modified the DWC3 USB driver to include support for generating sysfs entries that allow users to read the USB connected/disconnected state. This functionality was not originally provided in the driver.

The changes have been tested and verified in my setup, and I believe they could be beneficial to other users of the driver.

I would like to inquire if TI would be interested in upstreaming these changes into the mainline driver.

Please let me know the process for submitting the changes for review or if any additional details are required.

Hi,

The kernel debugfs already has an entry "/sys/kernel/debug/usb/31x00000.usb/link_state" to show the link status. What else information do you need to add?

Hi,

Yes, we have a debugfs entry available, but since debugfs cannot be used in production, we made changes to create a sysfs link_state entry. This allows the state to be read directly from sysfs:

$ cat /sys/class/udc/31000000.usb/device/link_state
On
$ cat /sys/class/udc/31000000.usb/device/link_state
Disconnected

Hi Sakshi,

The dwc3 kernel driver is maintained by the kernel opensource community, not TI. It is up to the dwc3 driver maintainer to agree with this driver change or not. So please directly post your patch to linux-usb@vger.kernel.org mailing list.
