Error in booting 816x using SD card, "cat: write error: No space left on device "

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP

When I use the SD card to boot the 816x board, there are errors as below, what the problem is? I use the original sd card and made no change at all.

Thank you very much!

This step will set up minicom (serial communication application) for

SDK development

Which serial port do you want to use with minicom?

[ /dev/ttyS0 ]

Copied existing /home/test/.minirc.dfl to /home/test/.minirc.dfl.old

Configuration saved to /home/test/.minirc.dfl. You can change it further from inside

minicom, see the Software Development Guide for more information.

This step will set up the u-boot variables for booting the EVM.

Autodetected the following ip address of your host, correct it if necessary

[ 10.172.149.35 ]

Select Linux kernel location:

 1: TFTP

 2: SD card

[ 1 ] 2

Select root file system location:

 1: NFS

 2: SD card

Please setup ethaddr manually by choosing your MAC Address

setenv ethaddr xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

Would you like to create a minicom script with the above parameters (y/n)?

[ y ]

Moving existing setup_uimage-sd_fs-sd.minicom to setup_uimage-sd_fs-sd.minicom.old

Successfully wrote setup_uimage-sd_fs-sd.minicom

Would you like to run the setup script now (y/n)? This requires you to connect

the RS-232 cable between your host and EVM as well as your ethernet cable as

described in the Quick Start Guide. Once answering 'y' on the prompt below

you will have 300 seconds to connect the board and power cycle it

before the setup times out

After successfully executing this script, your EVM will be set up. You will be

able to connect to it by executing 'minicom -w' or if you prefer a windows host

you can set up Tera Term as explained in the Software Developer's Guide.

If you connect minicom or Tera Term and power cycle the board Linux will boot.

  • Hello,

Did the SD card work OK before, and it is just now starting to have problems?  Or did it not work straight out of the box?

You could try to rebuild the SD card as described in the document "DM816x_C6A816x_AM389x_EZ_Software_Developers_Guide.pdf".

    Regards,
    Marc

  • The SD card is the original SD card when we got the board.  It has the problem form the beginning. It always stop and can not input any command on the board interface.

That because i start from executing setup.sh. In fact, i have not make up the NFS for the Linux PC and board. If I start directly from minicom -w command, I can input commands on the board interface. The errors still exist as above shown. But it will not stop and allow me input commands. Is it necessary to solve the error?

What should I do to make the Linux PC and the board be able to communicate? Then they can exchange data conveniently.  I follow the method : http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Linux_Host_Configuration_-_Ubuntu  to set up. However, it seems it still not work and when I use setup.sh to boot from SD card, it always fails by not allowing me input commands on the board interface. Can you show me the method to make connect between Linux PC and the board?

    Thank you so much!

     Regards
