PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X: occasionally PHY does NOT come up or startup on bootup

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X

Tool/software:

We have a new board design based on AM62x-SK-P1B eval board. Occasionally after booting up, the PHY does NOT appear to come up or start correctly. Neither the LINK or ACTIVITY LEDs are lit. The only way to remedy the issue is to cycle the power.

We are booting into VxWorks. The PHY appears to come up successfully upon the bootloader (U-Boot) booting; however, the problem seems to occur occasionally after booting into VxWorks. This smells like a timing problem.

Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Kyle

For VxWorks queries, we recommend working with WINDRVR directly. Support on these forums is predominantly for SDKs hosted by TI - Linux, RT Linux, Free RTOS etc.

Are you able to get support from them, if not, we can also ping them to bring to their attention.

    Regards

Because U-Boot is placing the CPSW into manual mode, I did the same with VxWorks. This seems to have alleviated the issue. I don't understand why this is necessary. Please see errata i2329 — MDIO: MDIO interface corruption (CPSW and PRU-ICSS).
