[EMAC]Peripheral Booting AM3517 .

Dear All,

I have Custom board which i am trying to boot from EMAC ..i have gone through the User manual provided from TI section 24. when i power on the custom board to my knowledge the board should look for either Peripheral or memory booting. but when i monitor ehternet lines with ethreal 0.99 i am not able to see any data...announce frame .

The other thing i would be glad if anybody clarifies ..how would i set up the servers...

Some basic daughts i have with EMAC booting..Please suggests your opinions on this.

Initially i had a Ported x-loader and u-boot in NAND and with environmental settings i have configured the processor to boot from TFTP server.. but in this case i had u-boot application through which i was able to configure the processor to boot from ..a.b.c.d ip and the uimage path..these variables i was able to set and it would boot.

but in case of bare EMAC booting on power on when the processor broadcasts and announce frame..how do i set thehost processor ?

Is there any toool /

How can i response to the processors request ?

Please do share your views on this ..i am using Evaluation version of IAR if this can make any difference.

Thanks and regards

Hrishikesh

  • Dear AllS

I have observed that the Processor on power up transmits 58 bytes of data as mentioned in the USER manual and i am able to receive the data on UART 3. Does TI provides any standalone tool to respond to this Asciii code ?

Also the Emac "Announce Frame is Not Visible" .. any Hints on this ?

    Thanks and regards

    Hrishikesh.
