questions about the omx c6xtest example

Hi there,

i am currently reading (and trying to understand) the sourcecode of the omx c6xtest example. is it correct that the vlpb component is running completely in the dsp (all the sourcecode under "ezsdk/component-sources/omx_05_02_00_15/packages/ti/omx/comp/vlpb/src")? - if not where is the cut between arm and dsp?

is it correct that this code of the vlpb component can be compiled also for the arm? because in the makefile the source files are  included in the "SRCS_a8host" and the "SRCS_c6xdsp" variable.  So if this is the case, the vlcp module can be started either on the dsp or the arm and supplies the functions over syslink?

If i want to implement an own omx module, which runs on the dsp, i just have to modify the vlpb module for my needs?

Yes, all the code under the directory location runs on the DSP. The communication between arm and dsp is handled in domx (distributed omx) ezsdk/component-sources/omx_05_02_00_15/packages/ti/omx/domx

Yes, the same code is also used as a copy component on the ARM. The string passed via GetHandle differs depending on whether you need the copy component to be on the DSP or the ARM.

Yes, thats a good starting point.

  • Hi, this thread is of interest to me; what is the underlying method that DOMX uses to pass data between the DSP and the ARM? Does it use EDMA to copy blocks of memory for instance or does it use shared memory between the DSP and ARM, thus saving time and effort in doing a memory copy between the ARM-owned memory and DSP-owned memory?

    Thanks,
