EVMAM1808: Switch S4 redundant?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65070

Hi,

I would like to ask a question on EVMAM1808.

This board has a TPS65070 PMU on it, and according to TPS65070 datasheet SLVS950C, the PMU has power path management. It might therefore be reasonable to expect that, when both external power and battery is connected, TPS65070 will do two things simultaneously:

1.    Draw power from external supply (AC adapter or USB)

2.    Charge battery (or not if the battery is already saturated)

So it seems that the switch S4, found on sheet 38 "Power Input, battery Input, Misc" of EVMAM1808 schematics is completely redundant and should be removed.

Is it correct? May I remove the switch S4?
