PCI(e) cards working with the 8148 EVM???

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XIO2001

Has anyone had any luck using a PCI(e) card with the DM8148 EVM??? I've had a customer try 5 different PCI(e) cards and yet to find one that actually works (they all enumerate, and are displayed by lspci, but when they try to enable the drivers, they all fail for one reason or another. The most common is that the I/O Ports don't appear to be supported).

Any experiences would be useful... Thanks!

  • Shaun,

Could you give us the log output from hyperterm for us to look at with bad and good PCIe card?

  • Viet,

Sadly, there isn't that much to show -- I don't think the console output shows anything valuable.

I really want to get an Atheros 5k (5413) Mini PCI card running. It's connected to the 8148 EVM via a mini-PCI-to-PCI adapter, connected to an XIO2001 PCIe-PCI bridge, connected to the PCIe port. lspci shows it as being enumerated. Modprobe loads the driver. "Ifconfig wlan0 up" causes the kernel to lock (it's actually running a tight loop to resetting the Ath5k card). This card runs fine with the same hardware configuration when connected to a PC running Ubuntu 2.6.37.

To repeat my previous post (http://e2e.ti.com/support/embedded/f/354/p/143937/529091.aspx#529091): has anyone seen a PCI card work on the 8148 EVM through the XIO2001 bridge?

I have an Atheros AR5418 PCIe card working (it won't attach yet, but that's another issue -- at least I can scan the WiFi network and see other devices) so the PCIe system works with something.

    Thanks,

    Christopher
