We are trying to boot it up as per the steps given in manual. However, the device doesn’t seem to boot up as we don’t see the boot logs using serial console. We have made the appropriate jumper settings to boot from SD card. Flashed the default TI image in SD card.

Can you please confirm which version of the EVM you are using, and what version of the SDK you are using?

Please note that we no longer support booting AM65x Silicon Revision 1 (SR1) EVMs with the latest versions of the Linux SDK. For more information, refer to this e2e thread:

The Industrial Development Kit I am using is attached in the picture and the version of SDK is

Hi Nick,
We have followed the steps in the attached file to boot the board. Also we tried to boot using the SD card that comes with the board. But we are unable to see any logs in the serial port when connected through UART.

ok, you are using the version of the IDK with silicon rev 2.1.

It does not look like your bootmode switches are set properly for SD boot. Please make sure your switches SW2, SW3, SW4 are set as per "SD Boot Mode" in the RTOS SDK docs here: https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-rtos/esd/AM65X/09_01_00_02/exports/docs/processor_sdk_rtos_am65xx_09_01_00_02/docs/user_guide/evm_setup_am65xx.html#evm-setup-am65xx

Based on an offline discussion, I got the information that you are still blocked on this, please confirm.

I see Nick has pointed out that the customer’s SD boot pins are incorrect. Did you check the boot mode pin settings?
With SD card there comes an additional dependency of the SD card itself. Some SD cards have not consistently worked so I’d suggest you to look at UART boot as another option. UART boot, in general, is a good indicator if the board is faulty or not.
1. On AM65 there is an errata on UART boot mode where this may work inconsistently, so good to try a few times before ruling out possibility of a setup issue. (https://www.ti.com/lit/er/sprz452i/sprz452i.pdf)

Another important debug step would be to connect a JTAG, I believe the AM65 EVM has an on-board xds110 JTAG which can be used for this purpose. Based on the boot flow, R5F is the boot master and would run the public ROM, the customer can connect to the R5F via CCS to see where the PC (Program Counter) is pointing. This would help us understand that whether:
1. ROM ran and there was an issue in loading the SW bootloader or,
2. The device didn't power up and nothing ran (possible faulty board)
