TDA4VEN-Q1: LPDDR4 config tool

Part Number: TDA4VEN-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG, TDA4VM

Tool/software:

Hi Kevin,

From the TDA4VEN DDR sysconfig tool I can't see the setting regarding the VREF ect as TDA4VM, so that means we can't config it via tool now, right? customer want to confirm what is the setting default now in TDA4VEN.

VREF Control - DQ VREF Range
VREF Control - DQ VREF
VREF Control - CA VREF Range
VREF Control - CA VREF
Termination - CA ODT
Termination - DQ ODT

This issue background is the Samsung LPDDR4 boot fail issue, customer asking the Samsung team support as well, Samsung need us double confirm the VREF setting.

BR,

Biao

  • Hi Biao,

In above snippet from TDA4VM, settings were separated for boot frequency (F0) vs. operating frequency (ex: F1 / F2).

    For TDA4VEN,

    • DRAM CA ODT and DQ ODT are set the same across F0, F1, F2. Whatever is populated from the user input will be applied to all 3x.
    • DRAM DQ and CA VREF final setting will be determined by training (same is true for TDA4VM). Initial settings for TDA4VEN are hard-coded by tool to:
      • DQ : Range 0, 16%
      • CA: Range 0, 25.6%

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

How can we modify the configuration of CA verf and DQ verf?

    Regards.

  • Dear alls,

Is any update for this thread? We have been looking forward to your reply.

    Regards.

  • Hi,

CA Vref and DQ Vref are trained during initialization.

Are you saying that you want to disable VREF training and set the value through software? Note that disabling VREF training isn't a solution that we recommend / support. Is this a debug step, or you believe that the VREF value identified by training is insufficient?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

CA Vref and DQ Vref are trained during initialization.

Are you saying that the values of dq verf and ca verf are variable? Does this depend on the result of initializing DDR training after each power on startup?

Are you saying that you want to disable VREF training and set the value through software? Note that disabling VREF training isn't a solution that we recommend / support. Is this a debug step, or you believe that the VREF value identified by training is insufficient?

In fact, we are trying to debug Samsung DDR. Modifying the values of dq verf and ca verf does not mean that we do not trust the trained values. On the one hand, we are not sure what the current values of dq verf and ca verf are. On the other hand, we want to try modifying these values to see if it can solve the problem of Samsung DDR being unable to boot to the file system.

    Regrads.
