TDA4VM-Q1: Regarding J7 HS-SE-TIDK Functionality

Part Number: TDA4VM-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi TI Expert

According to following link for J7 HS Device Developemnt
Jacinto7 HS Device Development

Following is our standing
(1)Figure 1-1

HS-SE-TIDK device produced by the TI factory has all security features enabled with a TI Dummy Key, valid only in the customer area.
In the customer factory, the HS-FS device has all security features available but requires customer keys to be written using a Keywriter to become an HS-SE device.

(2)Figure 1-2 shows that HS-SE-TIDK is used for early security testing before transitioning to HS-FS or production HS-SE devices.

We need to confirm whether HS-SE-TIDK supports customer key testing to simulate Secure Boot functionality on production HS-SE devices.

. Regarding the HS-SE-TIDK Development Device

  • Apart from the built-in TI Dummy Key, does HS-SE-TIDK support customer keys replacement?

  • If customer keys can be replaced, can this device be used to test the Secure Boot functionality of the production HS-SE ?

  • If customer key replacement is supported, are there any related documents or testing guidelines available?

. Part Number Confirmation

  • Are the DEVICE TYPE mappings for the following part numbers correct?
    1. XJ721EDBALF: corresponds to HS-SE-TIDK(for development and pre-testing)
    2. TDA4VM88T0CALFRQ1: corresponds to HS-SE(production device, supporting customer keys)

  • Hi Jay,

Apart from the built-in TI Dummy Key, does HS-SE-TIDK support customer keys replacement?

On TI dummy devices customer keys are nothing but a TI dummy keys, that means customer keys field are blown with the TI dummy keys.

You can not flash any other keys into these devices, as these are already converted to HS-SE after blowing the effuses with the dummy keys.

If customer keys can be replaced, can this device be used to test the Secure Boot functionality of the production HS-SE ?

By default secure boot is enforced on the HS-SE devices , but as the keys fused in the HS-SE-TIDK device are TI dummy keys, you need to use dummy keys to sign the images/binaries.

If customer key replacement is supported, are there any related documents or testing guidelines available?

    same as above.
