TDA4VM: Is Jacinto 7 device supports Android ?

Part Number: TDA4VM

Tool/software:

Hello TI teams,

While exploring the TI git repository, I came across a comment in the Android repository stating that the j721e is supported:

"Stable Android distribution for TI processors; Supported SoCs: Jacinto (DRA7xx, J721E), Sitara (AM43xx, AM57xx, AM65x) - Android manifest for TI processors."

However, I have not encountered any Android-related items in the Jacinto Processor SDK. Is there a separate guide or relevant documentation available?

We are planning to port Android to the TDA4VM processor. Any related materials or support would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  • Hi,

Unfortunately no, we have not validated Android on TDA4VM. But could you please help us with why you need android on TDA4VM?

    Regards,

  • Hi

We were looking into the feasibility of running Android or Android Automotive OS on the TDA4VM chipset. If possible, even on top of a hypervisor.
But it is not for commercial or official purposes at the moment.

Is there a future plan to support Android on the TDA4VM processor?

    Thanks.

  • Even if TI does not officially support Android on the TDA4VM, if there is any documentation or information regarding Android support on other TI Arm A72-based chipsets, we would appreciate it if you could share that with us. If possible, we will try to modify and adapt it for the TDA4VM.

  • Hello,At

Is there a future plan to support Android on the TDA4VM processor?

There is no plan to have Android SDK support on the TDA4VM.

if there is any documentation or information regarding Android support on other TI Arm A72-based chipsets, we would appreciate it if you could share that with us. If possible, we will try to modify and adapt it for the TDA4VM.

We don't have any documentation to share for TI ARM A72-based devices. However, our closest one is on AM62X (which is A53-based.. See here:  https://www.ti.com/tool/download/PROCESSOR-SDK-ANDROID-AM62X.

    Thanks.
