Hello everyone,

I am very new to this TI processor world and wanted to ask a question.

My question is: Can I use a pre-configured TPS65219 PMIC with AM6235/5X, LPDDR4 and 5V Vin/Vsys input?

When I checked the device comparison table, I did not see any relevant configuration.

If I can't use pre-configured PMIC, what kind of configuration should I follow?  Are there any documents, reference designs or notes on this?

    Thanks for reaching out! Any of the PMIC variants that support 3.3V input supply can also support 5V if the external power switch is replaced with a Buck. For example TPS6521902 and TPS6521908 can meet your application use case. 

    The external Buck can also be used to supply the PMIC LDOs, specially LDO1 since it is configured in bypass mode and requires a 3.3V input supply.

    We have decided to proceed with DDR4, and I have two additional questions:

    1. We are considering using the TPS6521901 with a 5V Vsys. Can I supply PVIN_LDO2 with an external 1.8V DC/DC?
    2. If we use the TPS6521901, is it possible to use GPO2/GPIO as a PWR_OK/PGOOD indicator, or does it require programming or a special NVM configuration?

  • Hi Batuhan,

    Yes, the PMIC LDO2 (0.85V) can be supplied by the external 1.8V DCDC.

    Changing the default configuration of GPO2 or GPIO requires a new PMIC orderable with a custom NVM config. Instead, I would recommend selecting 1.8V DCDC with integrated open-drain power good signal. This power good signal can be connected to the PMIC power good signal (nRSTOUT) to drive the processor MCU_PORz.

    Actually, we want to use this PWR_OK/PGOOD signal to enable our peripheral supply voltages.
    So can I use nRSTOUT signal for activate our carrier supply voltages?

  • If you need a power-good signal to enable other ICs in your design, then PMIC nRSTOUT can be used.

    Please make sure to follow the VDDSHV design guidelines which can be found in the technical documentation section for the corresponding MPU.
