Hi,

I'm working on omap3530 and camera driver tvp5150,. I tried with default driver code of tvp5150, but i couldn't generate /dev/video0 node. which board file i should use to configure i2c slave address. and how i can attach driver to omap35xxcam, there is no such option in default driver code. Actually i'm very new to this field so kindly suggest me how can i proceed further.

Jorden,

Its run time hook-up between master and slave driver, so there will not be any config option for this. You need to just enable OMAP3 camera and tvp5150 driver in config file.

Can you put printk statement in probe function of both the drivers and see whether they are getting called?

Can you explain what you mean (or provide an example) by "just enable OMAP3 camera and tvp5150 driver in config file"?

Hey

Having the same problem here at the moment with a TVP5151 chip. Can confirm probe function is being called, see the dmsg below:

[ 313.622497] tvp5150 2-005c: chip found @ 0xb8 (OMAP I2C adapter)
[ 313.728057] tvp5150 2-005c: *** unknown tvp5151 chip detected.
[ 313.734191] tvp5150 2-005c: *** Rom ver is 1.0

Just appears that the driver fails to register the device nodes (can't see any /dev/videox or /dev/mediax nodes at all..) Attempting to use the 'media-ctl' application to configure video pipeline and capture settings [http://git.ideasonboard.org/media-ctl.git] but can't untill device driver registers nodes...

Using Linux Kernel 3.0 supplied from LogicPD in the OM3530 BSP

Hi Chris.

To solver the problem I believe we applied some patches to our tvp5150.c/h from http://patchwork.linuxtv.org/patch/7700/

Enrico <ebutera@users.berlios.de> was a really nice guy and provided some help.

"You will need the patch to add bt656 support to the omap3isp and be sure that pin muxing is correctly setup. As a reference, have a look at: https://github.com/ebutera/meta-igep/blob/master/recipes-kernel/linux/linux_3.1.bbappend There is a list of patches i used with a 3.1-rc-something kernel, or for example look at linux-3.2.bb for the patches needed for kernel 3.2."

Thanks for that patch info...applying them ASAP to see what happens. Getting closer I feel cause I'm expierencing the exact same BUG symptoms Enrico did before his patches..

Did you finally get video capture to work by the way? I'm pretty sure media-ctl and yavta are compiled and configured correctly so I assume its just a matter of some heavy patching from Enrico's repository...

To follow up this post, I've managed to register the tvp5151 with the ISP framework by following the patches supplied by Enrico. Can correctly configure the formats for the CCDC pipeline and setup the links.

Problem I am now having is that when I setup yavta to begin streaming it hangs after Buffer 3 and spits out a CCDC registry dump....a possible fix is described here but I can't seem to implement it without compilation errors: http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-media@vger.kernel.org/msg38368.html

Any suggestions??
