TDA4VH-Q1: Unable to boot from OSPI flash

Part Number: TDA4VH-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VH

Tool/software:

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get OSPI boot mode to work on custom board based on TDA4VH. I'm able to transfer boot files into board RAM over TFTP in u-boot and write those to OSPI flash with these commands:

sf probe
tftp ${loadaddr} tiboot3.bin
sf update $loadaddr 0x0 $filesize
tftp ${loadaddr} tispl.bin
sf update $loadaddr 0x80000 $filesize
tftp ${loadaddr} u-boot.img
sf update $loadaddr 0x280000 $filesize

Then I set the boot mode switches on board to boot from OSPI but on startup, the last print on UART is:

"Trying to boot from SPI"

and nothing after that. So it seems like flash is working since I can write to it, but for some reason board is unable to boot from it. Any ideas what could be the problem?

  • Hi,

What is the flash part you are using?

Can you share the u-boot logs.

Can you also try with phy_tuning_pattern also flashed to the phy.

    Regards,
    Tanmay

  • Hi,

I figured it out. I had to make some changes to the DTS since custom board uses Micron flash which is different from the one on J784S4 EVM board:
