Hello TI experts,

SDK8.6,

We designed to collect 6 camera data on the CSI1 interface;

4 of them have RAW12 output format ；

2 of them have YUV422 output format；

There are 6 cameras connected to the CSI1 interface. There are only 4 lanes in CSI1 to correspond to the data of 6 cameras (4 raw12 + 2 YUV), so a single lane will contain the data of raw12 camera and YUV camera.

Q:So how to distinguish the raw12 data format and YUV format data in a single date lane of the TDA4 CSI?

Hi Barry,

The number of lanes does not correspond to number of channels/datatypes. Even two lanes sometimes are sufficient to receive 4 channels, depending on resolution and speed requirement.

You need to calculate the total speed required for all 6 cameras and then see if it can fit in available total lane speed of CSIRX.

But how should we set sensorObj->ch_mask? (Because there are 6 cameras on the CSI interface now,And sensorObj->ch_mask can only take 4 values).

Hi Barry,

We use ch_mask to control and to configure the sensors, its not used within CSIRX. We have usecases (multi-cam with more than 4 camera) where we can use this ch masts for more than 4 channels, but you can possibly change the logic as per your requirement in the sensor driver.

As shown in the connect area in the figure, I only connected one camera, so what should sensorObj->ch_mask be set to?

sensorObj->ch_mask=0x10? sensorObj->ch_mask=0x20? sensorObj->ch_mask=0x40? sensorObj->ch_mask=0x80?

Which value should it take?

It depends on the virtual channel id of this camera. The first 4 camera on CSI instance0 will use lower 4 bits and then next two camera on CSI instance1 will use next two bits depending on the virtual channel id.

These 6 cameras are all in CSI1, not CSI0.

But what are the virtual channels of these camera? 0 to 5? what is the virtual channel of this specific camera for which you are looking for ch_mask details?

Again, CSIRX does not have ch_maks configuration. For CSIRX, what maters is virtual channel id and data type. ch_mask is primarily used in the sensor driver, which you can change it based on your requirement. You could change it to say that virtual channel id 0 to 3 have ch_mask 0x3C and virtual channel id 4 and 5 have ch_mask 0x3. or you can have ch_mask of 0x3F for all 6 channels controlled/captured by single CSIRX.
