AM6421: AM64 or AM65 series processor in SIL3 application

Part Number: AM6421

Tool/software:

We currently use the AM6421 in a non-safety application.

In an ongoing project, we want to use an AM64 or AM65 series processor in SIL3 application.

To do this, we want to make extensive use of the possibilities offered by the corresponding series to save development time and resources.

Now it is not easy to get a reasonable overview of the available options (built-in self-tests, test libs, etc.).

We downloaded the safety manual and FMEDA for the AM64 series.

Is there more information specific to the test libs?

Who could support us in depth?

We have not found any safety documents for the AM65 series. Is this series still supported for safety applications?

We do not recommend AM65 for new development and more specifically for safety based products.

AM65 safety offering is limited to device safety certification (it is certified) and FMEDA/safety manual that are behind firewalls. There is no SDLs (software diagnostic libraries) or associated compliance support packages available or planned.  In terms of software in general too, we do not have any plans to do more Free RTOS based software releases and Linux is once a year release (to be re-evaluated every year) with kernel migration and critical bug fixes only.

You can evaluate AM64 safety manual and offerings to see if meets the customer needs and requirements.

The software diagnostic library is available in public domain as part of AM64/AM24 MCU+ SDK

AM64x MCU+ SDK: Software Diagnostics Library (SDL)

    Hope this helps some
