TMS320C6657: Abnormal startup operation

Part Number: TMS320C6657

Tool/software:

We are using TI's TMS320C6657 chip and recently encountered an abnormal phenomenon on one chip.

After bootloading and jumping to main, there's a probability of the system hanging, and there's also a probability that the software runs but with abnormal access to the chip peripherals. We've conducted power cycling tests, and the probabilities of the two abnormal phenomena are approximately 0.3% to 0.5%.

What could be the cause? In which areas can we analyze this issue?

  • Hello Yong,

We want to set the expectation that you are asking for a very vague and broad query without providing any specific details. Note that this device has been in production for multiple years now, and we have not heard anything similar; hence, there could be some localized issue on your side.

However, Please provide more details on the abnormal phenomenon/system hang so we can review it.

    - Is it determined that there is no faulty hardware on this board?
    - Was there any specific hardware peripheral/part number update done recently?
    - Was there any software change done recently, and if yes, has it been reviewed to rule out the possibility?
    - where does the system hang? Is there any signature/debug log?

    Let us know,

    Thanks.
