TMS320C6416T: Request for DSP Debugger Clarifications

Hi Team,

We are using TMS320C6416TBCLZD1 DSP part in our design. We are trying to find a debugger for it. In the below product web page of TMS320C6416TBCLZD1, it is mentioned such as the debugger TMDSEMU560V2STM-U can be used.

But, in the below product web page of TMDSEMU560V2STM-U, it is mentioned such as C641x device is not supported.

Can we use the debugger TMDSEMU560V2STM-U for the DSP TMS320C6416TBCLZD1?

    The TMDSEMU560V2STM-U/UE  debug probes are not compatible with the C641x family.

    The listing of the TMDSEMU560V2STM probes in the hardware development section of the TMS320C6416T is incorrect and I have requested that they be removed.

    We are using the part TMS320C6416TBCLZD1 in our new design. And we are searching for a debugger for it.

    Is there any compatible debugger for TMS320C6416TBCLZD1 (To procure for our testing)?

    The most popular debug probe option would have been the XDS510. However, given their age, you are unlikely to find these new.

    I was pointed to an older E2E thread where someone had tested an XDS560v2 with an "TMS320C6416"

    I was able to connect to a C6416 and a C6211 (the closest target I have to a C6203) using my Blackhawk XDS560v2 (w/CCS 10.4). These devices were likely never tested with the XDS560v2, hence why they are not officially supported. Because of the lack of official support, we do not feel comfortable recommending the XDS560v2 in this case. But the choice is up to the user.

    So it appears that the XDS560v2 may work with the C6416T, but I cannot be sure as I have no ability to test. 

    You may also need to use an older version of Code Composer Studio. CCSv8 is probably the best bet, but later versions may also work.
