Hi team,

Our customer encountered a boot failure in eMMC mode:

1. The customer made their own boards, and out of 30 produced, two cannot boot normally.
2. The boards can boot normally in SD card mode.

3. In emmc mode, there is a high probability of boot failure.

4. Lowering emmc_clk frequency during the boot stage allows normal booting (reducing from 200Mhz to 50Mhz)

5. The following figure shows the emmc_clk in the case of normal boot and boot failure at 200Mhz when power on, with the vdd_mmo voltage being normal.

After power on, the startup failed without any log. When the startup failed, connecting to wkup core using CCS showed that the program stopped at this address: 0X43C0B7FA

I am assuming the customer is not using the SDK v10.1. If so, could you please ask them to try the same and see if the issue still persists:

Hi Shivhare,

This project is nearly SOP, customer don't allow to use the SDK10.1. It's OK to give customer patch, the SDK is 10.0.07 customer using.

I think the customer can conduct tests based on the patch. The customer's codebase is too large to be conveniently migrated based on version 10.01.

Hi Shivhare,

The customer have some new AM62p, and most of new AM62P has the problem. They find it is always failed during copying the images to DDR. while it will boot failed with HS200, it will boot successfully with HS50. Also it is successfully booted with hs200 on our EVM. Could you give some guidance?

Hi, I have already suggested to once test the SDK v10.1 or integrate the patch attached in my previous response in the existing SDK version the customer is using.

The customer have tried the patch and fixed the issue successfully！thank you so much， but the customer wants to know the reason why need to try more times when moving images from eMMC to DDR.

Ideally, it should not be the case.

However, we have seen CRC errors occuring randomly in HS400 mode and so the previous patch implements the recovery steps to recover from these errors.

Hi Prashant,

The customer wants to clarify the following issue: According to the current response, the CRC problem occurred during the boot stage. Is this a software issue or a hardware issue? How should I explain to the customer that this patch completely fixes the problem?

The root cause of the CRC issue is not yet known.
