CCSTUDIO: Company cannot use software due to installation and security requirements

Part Number: CCSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are barred from using CCSTUDIO at our company due to security concerns, and I was hoping we might be able to find a solution. Our IT department has flagged two primary issues:

1 - CCSTUDIO will not allow installation into specific directories. We need to be able to install and run the software in a directory of our choosing.

2 - We need to be able to choose where code is compiled and tested from.

We have been interested in switching over some of our MCU designs to TI for some time, however we are not cleared to even test the platform due to these restrictions. We could use some of the alternative IDEs but need some free basic platform to test features and compatibility to existing products to begin evaluation.

Has this issue ever come up before? And is there a solution to allow CCSTUDIO to run on a secure company network?

We appreciate any help on the matter.

  • Hello,

1 - CCSTUDIO will not allow installation into specific directories. We need to be able to install and run the software in a directory of our choosing.

I assume you are referring to directories like "C:\Program Files" as mentioned in this ticket:

    https://sir.ext.ti.com/jira/browse/EXT_EP-12250

There are several known issue with CCS running from these locations, hence why the installer blocks these locations. We are looking to address these issues so that we can allow for installing inside these locations. We don't have a firm schedule on when this will be done but I will raise the issue again to make sure people are aware of the priority.

    Thanks

    ki

  • Thank you for the fast response. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon, and we can get to evaluating the MCUs.
