DRA821U: Clarification on MACSec not supported

Part Number: DRA821U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA821

Tool/software:

Hi there,

In DRA821 TRM rev.D, it states MACSec is not supported. Can you provide some clarifications by answering the following questions?

1. Does it mean CPSW0 switch won't switch MACSec encrypted frames and drop them silently?

2. Or CPSW0 doesn't have MACSec encryption/decryption engine so it won't encrypt/decrypt frames?

3. Does it support MACSec VLAN traffic?

4. Does DRA821 support MACSec authentication protocol such as MKA?

5. Does DRA821 provide CAK-CKN database storage?

Thanks,

Charles

  • Hi,

It doesn't have MACSec so encryption/description won't happen.

CPSW acceptance of frame is based on MAC Address/VLAN. So, even if packet MACSec encrypted switch will accept if MAC/VLAN registered.

From Switch point of After VLAN is data as it doesn't parse the data except TCP/UDP headers

    4. Does DRA821 support MACSec authentication protocol such as MKA?

    5. Does DRA821 provide CAK-CKN database storage?

There is no support available related to MACSec from CPSW Hardware also, No software support from TI SDK as well.
